We're past the halfway point with my Boho Indigo DSP Series!
I hope you are enjoying the series so far? If you are visiting my blog for the first time, I'm demonstrating how versatile the Boho Indigo Product Medley is and just how much you can create with one pack. I've created nine papercraft and home decor projects and I still have product left over!
There are four more projects still to come! A pencil tin, thank you card, a wreath and a stationery set. I've had so much fun creating all of them but I am super excited about the last two!! They were both a real labour of love and I am so happy with the end result. I can't wait to show them to you!
Here is project number five! I have created another Shadow Box Book Card. This is completely different in design to my Peony Garden version but I've used exactly the same structure, I just haven't added the note card and I've utilised the concertina sides to decorate the frame.
I love how this 3D card looks like a book when closed. It's so effective and a fun technique to use!
You can purchase my 1 hour long video tutorial to learn exactly how to make this card structure (scroll to the very end of this post and click on the banner for more details).
In my video tutorial, I show you how I decorated the Shadow Box Book Card with the Peony Garden Suite but you can decorate it any way you like! Once you know the structure, the possibilities are endless!
This version of the Shadow Box Book Card would look absolutely stunning using multiple colours, especially when stamping with the Forever Fern stamps. You could use soft subtle colours or bright vibrant colours - whatever your style!
I was determined to make all of the papercraft projects within the Boho Indigo Series monotone designs, using just Very Vanilla and Misty Moonlight - adding a few embellishments here and there. So today's version is simply stamped in Misty Moonlight onto Very Vanilla cardstock.
I die cut the Forever Fern stamps with the Forever Flourishing dies and attached them at different depths, using glue dots, to the inside of the concertina frame. It creates dimension, a kind of jungle effect!
I created a matching gift box to fit the shadow box book card too. In my video tutorial, I also show you how to make this!
I haven't added any decoration other than the DSP and Cardstock as I want the card to be the main attraction.
Of course you don't need a gift box but hey, makers are gonna make!
Before I go, don't forget, you've got until Monday to make the most of the Stampin' Up! Bonus Days promotion!
For every £45.00 you spend, you will receive £4.50 in vouchers, direct from Stampin' Up! (by email). Just make sure you redeem these between 4th and 31st August 2020. Click here to show now!
Did you know that these offers apply to demonstrators too?
I got my Bonus Days vouchers yesterday and I am looking forward to placing an order in August to stock up on adhesives and cardstock, ready for making Christmas cards!
Christmas crafting is my all time favourite. I can't wait for my new stamp sets, dies, patterned paper and ribbon to arrive.
As demonstrators, we can order products one month earlier than customers. I'm a bit late to the party as I only ordered yesterday - I just simply couldn't decide what to order as my wish list was huge (unfortunately I can't buy it all).
Here's a sneak peak of the front cover of the
New Stampin' Up! Mini Catalogue launching 4th August 2020!!
I'm sorry there is nothing here for you to download
(it's against the rules - right now I can only show you the front cover)
Come back on 4th August and download the PDF catalogue!
Okay, so you may be thinking, isn't it a bit too early to think about Christmas crafting?
Fast forward to December when you're frantically creating Christmas cards to make the last posting dates - is that you? Well, it was me last year and this year I'm going to get ahead and make some each month so I can actually enjoy the run up to Christmas!
Classic Monochrome Thank You Cards featuring Peony Garden DSP from Stampin' Up!
Sunday, July 26, 2020 Bridgwater, UK
I'm CASEing (copying) one of my own cards today!
I've simply changed the colours and patterned paper to make a batch of classic monochrome thank you cards, which I posted to my friends and family the week before last!
I'm entering this card into a sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches. This is the Sketch!
I'm using the Peony Garden DSP again - I promise, I'm going to put this paper down for a while! Hopefully you can see why I keep using it? Just look how beautiful these floral patterns are!
I've used a different embossing folder on each of the three cards pictured together in the same colour - the Subtles, Tasteful Textile & Dainty Diamonds embossing folders.
The three colours I've used all feature within the Peony Garden DSP - Petal Pink, Basic Gray and Gray Granite - plus Whisper White of course!
I also die cut a stitched circle from the Stitched Shape dies, using the patterned paper.
The sentiment is from the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set. The font is classic and suits this card perfectly.
I die cut the swirly flower element from the Well Written dies and added these onto the patterned paper - for each card I've die cut 2 in Whisper White and 2 in the coordinating colour.
I added Rhinestones to the centre of each flower to add a bit of sparkle!
I stamped the sentiment in Versamark onto the coordinating colour cardstock, applied white embossing powder and set it with my heat tool. I then die cut it with a Stitched Nested Label. I added some dimensional foam pads to the back and adhered it in the centre of the circle.
If you haven't already done so, click here to subscribe to my VIP newsletters, I have one going out very soon with an offer exclusively for customers and subscribers to have access the Shadow Box Book Card Video Tutorial with a qualifying purchase!
Today I have project number 4 for you from my Boho Indigo DSP Series! A simple yet effective home decor project - a 'Welcome' picture frame for your guest room!
I recently picked up this frame from our local B&M Store for a bargain £2 - I thought it was the perfect colour match for the Boho Indigo patterned paper.
I have toyed with the idea of adding more to the decoration and have played around with various die cuts and embellishments but I wasn't keen, so I stuck with it and decided that 'less is more'.
The frame area is 7" by 5" so I cut a piece of Very Vanilla this size. I then cut the patterned paper I selected to 6" by 4" and placed this on top of the Very Vanilla. I felt it needed more so I cut an additional two layers with super thin borders - a Misty Moonlight layer of 6 1/8" by 4 1/8" and a Very Vanilla layer of 6 1/16" by 4 1/16". I feels this adds depth without me having to use dimensionals.
I die cut the word 'Welcome' in Misty Moonlight from the Well Written dies and adhered this to a die cut circle that I had embossed with the Subtles embossing folder. It's difficult to see in my photographs but it adds some much needed texture.
Next I layered this circle onto another 2 circles die cut from Very Vanilla - one stitched and one scalloped. I considered adding a Misty Moonlight circle into the mix but I didn't like it so off it went into my box of unused die cuts. Do you have one of those?
I hope today's project has inspired you to find any unused picture frames lying around and make something lovely for your home.
Last year I made a home decor project using the Sailing Home stamp set. This was for our other guest room which has a nautical theme. It says 'The Wifi Code is ......' and is really useful for when guests come to stay and want to connect their devices. It really suits the room which I've decorated with various items we've picked up when holidaying in Cornwall and seaside resorts abroad.
Do you want to know how to assemble the 3D flower that I've featured on my cards today? Find out how by watching my video!
These cards were inspired by a previous project of mine - if you haven't seen this project you can check it out here.
The Prized Peony Bundle is such a great set to have in your stash - did you know if you purchase the Prized Peony stamp set and Peony dies as a bundle you can save 10%!
For this card I have predominately used the colour Petal Pink, adding accents of Basic Gray and Whisper White.
Did you know you can heat emboss onto the Stampin' Up! foil sheets? Well you totally can and it looks great!
I stamped the 'Love and thanks to a dear friend' sentiment from the Prized Peony stamp set in Versamark Ink onto the Silver Foil sheet. I then added white embossing powder and used my heat tool to heat emboss it.
Just make sure you use your embossing buddy before stamping! After the heat embossing has set, you can carefully wipe the foil sheet with a baby wipe to remove the powder residue from your embossing buddy.
For this card, I've mainly used Gray Granite and have added elements of Basic Black, Whisper White and Champagne Foil sheets.
Stampin' Up! added Gray Granite into the colour pool a few years ago. I really wasn't sure we needed another grey colour in addition to Smoky Slate and Basic Gray, but they were totally right - they know their stuff! It's a beautiful subtle, classy colour that pairs perfectly with the Champagne foil sheets.
Blushing Bride is my second favourite Stampin' Up! colour (right behind Pool Party). Whilst this colour does not feature in the Peony Garden suite, I was able to pair this colour with the Basic Gray patterned DSP. I've also used Basic Gray and Whisper White cardstock and the Silver Foil sheets again.
If you have the Peony Garden DSP, why not try mixing it with colours that do not feature in the suite?
Card measurements:
- Cardbase - 29.7 cm x 10.5 cm (score at 14.9cm)
- Layer 1 - 8.8 cm x 13.2 cm
- Layer 2 - 8.4 cm x 12.8 cm
- Layer 3 - 8.0 cm x 12.4 cm (video states 8.1 cm incorrectly)
Boho Indigo DSP Series - Treat Bag (remaking an old favourite!!)
Saturday, July 18, 2020 Bridgwater, UK
Today I am remaking an old favourite! It's my super simple Treat Bag / Gift Bag (whatever you want to call it!) made using just one sheet of 6" x 6" DSP
This is an original design of mine that I created way back in 2016. In fact, this design features in two of my most popular blog posts ever! It's been CASED many times too!
I've got lot's of other projects to show you too and very soon the new Mini Catalogue will be released featuring the new seasonal range! Are you ready for Christmas?
While this is the third time I've blogged about this little bag, I've made it countless times. Why don't you try making it? I promise you, you will find it so useful for gifting little treats or jewelry. They would be great for wedding favours too!
To make this bag you will need a piece of 6" x 6" piece of Designer Series Paper - for your first make it's probably easier to use a pattern that has no specific direction!
You will need to score the DSP as follows:
- Score at 1 3/8"
- Turn paper clockwise
- Score at 1 3/8" (only to the score line)
- Score at 2 3/4"
- Score at 4 1/8" (only to the score line)
- Score at 5 1/2"
Once you have done this, find your scissors, bone folder and some double sided tape and watch this old video of mine which shows you exactly how to make this style gift bag - just remember I'm using DSP and stamps that have now retired!
Well, that was easy wasn't it!
Did you know you can make 48 of these treat bags from the Boho Indigo Product Medley or Refill?
To decorate my Boho Indigo DSP treat bag, I've die cut a circle from the Stitched Shapes dies from Very Vanilla cardstock and added a Misty Moonlight scalloped circle behind it using the Layering Circles dies. I stamped a sentiment from the Forever Fern stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink onto the Very Vanilla stitched circle.
To embellish the bag, I've die cut the teeny flowers from the Well Written Dies and added a Basic Rhinestone in the centre. I've used the Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon and the thread from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack to secure the bag
I've been busy filming new videos in the last week and I'm excited to say that I have a thank you card video tutorial which will be coming out very soon!
I've also finished filming my Shadow Box Book Card Tutorial which is now available for you to purchase right here on my blog! Just click the banner below to find out more!
Lovely You thank you card for Michelle Last & memories from the Pinkies Retreat weekend!
Sunday, July 12, 2020 Bridgwater, UK
I'm sharing with you today a special handmade card that I created for the lovely Michelle Last as a thank you for holding the amazing Pinkies Retreat 2020 event that took place 'virtually' last weekend for a group of almost 80 demonstrators.
I was absolutely blown away that Michelle asked me to design one of the make and takes, it was such an honour and a real joy to see others inspired by my project. Having personally seen the hard work Michelle was putting in behind the scenes, I contacted all of the demonstrators attending to arrange a beautiful bunch of flowers as a thank you for Michelle. If you live close to Buckingham, I would highly recommend a local florist called The Flower Story. Their work is amazing!
I've heard Michelle mention a few times that one of her favourite new products from the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue 2020 - 2021 is the Lovely You stamp set so I knew I was going to use that in my card. Creating a clear embossed background has been on my ideas board for a few weeks, so this technique paired with the Lovely You stamp set was the perfect choice for this card.
I selected Gray Granite cardstock for the card base and stamped the flower and leaves images all over the front in Versamark ink. I applied clear embossing powder and used my heat tool to create the shiny embossed effect.
It's always tricky capturing this look in photography but I think you can see it at the top of both photos!
I added Vellum, Champagne Foil and dry embossed Gray Granite cardstock to create different textures and layers. I also used the Lovely Labels Pick A Punch to create the banner beneath the Thank You sentiment.
I added die cut elements cut from both Gray Granite and Whisper White cardstock plus several embellishments such as Rhinestones, Elegant Faceted Gems and the twine from the Flowers for Every Season combo pack. I've used my trick again and removed the blue piece from the twine. I then tied a bow with just the white twine and the delicate silver foil. Why don't you take a closer look and you'll see what I mean!
#PINKIESRETREAT2020
Next, I wanted to share some more memories of the Pinkies Retreat with you. We had such a fabulous time!
Did you know that you can attend events like this too? All you need to do is click here to purchase the starter kit and join my team!
We all received this exciting retreat box from Michelle one week before the event. My will power was really good, I kept mine closed until the morning of the event so I didn't spoil any surprises for myself.
Enclosed were SO MANY goodies - 8 Make & Take kits, Stampin' Up! products, sweeties and swaps! Honestly, I don't think any of us expected to receive this much - what a great start to the weekend!
Also enclosed in the retreat box was a beautifully presented itinerary, jam packed full with a variety of activities. Michelle also included a really lovely quote. So lovely that I decided to frame and display it in my craft room as a keepsake of this special event that was held during coronavirus lockdown!
Now look at this.....
How great is this? Can you spot me?
We all had the choice to take part in this group photo - now I'm really not a big fan of having my picture taken but I just had to take part as I knew this would turn out amazing.
We all decorated our words in our own individual styles - the outcome and message is wonderful. I'm currently looking into getting this printed onto canvas as this is something I never want to forget!
To see more photos from the Pinkies Retreat 2020, check out my facebook business page by clicking here and find the albums I have set up under 'Photos'. I'd be grateful for you to give my page a like while you are there!
