I am part of Michelle Last's team of Stampin' Up! demonstrators called the Pinkies. We stay connected with each other through various Facebook groups with regular engagement posts and creative challenges.
Our current creative challenge theme is Clean And Simple #23 - here is the the card I have shared.
I think this card may be a little too much for this theme as it does have a layer and ribbon but I thought I'd enter anyway for fun.
We have two creative challenges a month and I am honoured to now be in my second year as the Pinkies Creative Challenge Coordinator.
It's a lot of fun coming up with different themes, creating the graphics but most of all, I love seeing the wealth of talent within our team. There is so much inspiration!

Whilst this is one, if not, my most favourite days of the year, it does also mark the end of my Christmas papercrafting - well, for at least 8 months.
I am kinda sad that I've run out of time to share the Christmas card I created for my husband. It's a combination of all of my silver and white themed Christmas cards that I've created this year. I only finished it on Tuesday night and he absolutely loved it. I'm going to share it on my Instagram account today so do come and check it out here.
Christmas is all about friends and family. That time of year where we all connect with each other. This year will be very strange for most of us but the most important thing is that we all stay safe and healthy so we can spend many more Christmases together.
The cards I am sharing today I created for both of my wonderful Grandmas. I'm so glad I got the cards in the post last week (before they stopped UK post to Europe due to the new fast spreading Covid strain here in the UK).
One of my Grandmothers lives in Utrecht in Holland and the other lives in Nottingham. Both have been in hospital this year and have had a really rough time so I wanted to design a card especially for both of them.
My Dad lives in Trinidad and the post takes such a long time to reach him - it can be longer than a month! Unfortunately this year I haven't sent him a card but I know he'll be cool with that.
He last stayed with us and flew home a week before the UK went into lockdown in March, who knows when we'll see each other in person again - it will only be when it is absolutely safe for him to travel.
My mum and brother usually stay with us every Christmas. It's easier for them to come to our house as we have two cats who are absolutely not going into the cattery at Christmas. We've got two spare rooms so no one is on a camp bed or sleeping on the sofa so it just makes sense.
I love to host Christmas, spoil everyone and cook some lovely meals. Every room in the house is decorated with different themes. There may be no children in our family but I attempt to create a magical time for everyone - we are all children at heart.
But we are on our own this year, I haven't seen my Mum for a year and my brother since March. They live in Brackley, Northamptonshire which is two hours away from us in Bridgwater, Somerset. We've sent each other parcels with presents and I've spent some time coming up with some new ideas to keep us connected over the festive period.
Try and stay positive. Change can be good. A year apart will make us all appreciate what we have even more then we already do. We can adapt and with the power of tech, we can be together ❤

It's Christmas Eve and here is my penultimate Christmas card idea I'm sharing with you!
You've probably seen a million versions of this card as the dies have been available for almost a year and a half now.
Unfortunately I wasn't blogging this time last year so I didn't share any of the cards I made using the these dies.
I have to say the Snow Globe Scene dies, the Snow Globe Domes and the Feels Like Frost DSP are some of my favourite products EVER and I will certainly be keeping them and stocking up on the domes before they retire.
I'll be honest with you though, I'm not at all keen on the Still Scenes stamp set that goes with these dies (I don't even own it) but I do have the Zoo Globe stamp set and plan on sharing projects created with it next year.
So why am I sharing it today? Well, I wanted to share it for me. So that when I am looking back at my blog in the years to come, I can be reminded exactly how much I've loved creating with it.
My blog is like my diary of my papercrafting memories ❤ It's fun to look back to see how my style has evolved, how my photography has improved and also to recall some of my favourite products (Butterfly dies and Timeless Elegance DSP are two that spring to mind)

This year has been like no other. Despite this, the crafting community has continued to flourish with lots of new crafters discovering the joy of creating handmade crafts of many kinds.
For me, there is nothing like the joy I get from creating and without this, I know this year would have been much tougher.
This wonderful hobby has undoubtedly helped so many get through these difficult times and create a positive distraction from the terrible consequences this virus has had on the world and life as we know it.
Thank you to everyone who has visited my blog including my lovely subscribers, I'm so thankful for you taking the time to visit Handmade by Kim. I hope you enjoy my projects and having access to even more ideas when I'm blog hopping with papercrafters from all of the world.

Retreat Swaps - Wishes & Wonder Shadow Box Card Tutorial

I was thrilled that Michelle invited me back as a designer. The best thing about being a designer is seeing how everyone interprets your idea and makes it their own, it's truly wonderful to see the ideas and creativity flowing.
I created 2 make and take projects for the retreat which I have shared on Instagram and Facebook.

Today I am sharing with you the last of 3 swaps I created for this event!
I joined three swap groups, each consisting of 5 people plus myself. Each swap group had a clear brief we had to follow, there was a large choice so I decided to go with these.
- Christmas group - a Christmas card
- DSP group - a card with patterned paper as the main focus
- Any Bundle group - a card created using any bundle, typically a stamp set and a die or punch
Naturally, we had to use current Stampin' Up! products!
I made six of each card and kept one for myself.
All three style cards I created are fancy fold Christmas cards and I have filmed a tutorial for each one.

Today's card was for the 'Any Bundle' swap group. I've created a Shadow Box card which usually is presented in a portrait orientation - however, I decided to mix things up a little and position it in a landscape setting.
The only stamps and dies I have used are from the Wishes and Wonder bundle, which includes the Wishes and Wonder stamp set and North Pole Wonder dies.
I also used this pattern from the beautiful Feels Like Frost DSP - this was perfect for my snowy sky background in the reindeer scene.
It's so difficult to capture how pretty the silver looks in these photographs, why not watch my video tutorial to see it in a better light
You'll see in my tutorial how I created every element on this card, including this silver embossed sentiment which you can see through this window.

Both cards I have created have a Whisper White dry embossed card base.
I've used the Winter Snow Embossing Folder for this card and the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder for the other card.
I added a layer of Silver Foil which I don't often do as it feels ever so indulgent.
All the stamping has been done in Versamark and has been heat embossed in silver.
I adore the combination of white and silver but I find it a challenge to photograph.
I fussy cut the stockings and baubles which was super easy to do! I punched tiny holes into the shapes so I could thread the twine through.
I layered the shapes into place on a piece of Whisper White using Dimensionals and then wrapped the twine around the back of the cardstock before attaching to the Silver Foil Sheet.
I've done some stamping inside my card too! I've used a sentiment from the Tag Buffet stamp set

The Shimmery White Embossing Paste is ideal to use when creating your Christmas cards. You can use it straight out of the tub (like I have done today) or you can mix it with a drop or two of ink to add colour to match your project. Just look how it sparkles!!!
Using embossing paste is a simple but effective technique. It's super quick and easy to create but you do need to make sure you wait for the paste to dry - but don't worry, it doesn't take too long!.
There are four different patterns included within the pack of Basic Pattern Decorative Masks. The trees were the inspiration behind my card today - the PERFECT background for my reindeer!
For my sentiment, I die cut a shape from the Tasteful Labels dies (an absolute must have for your craft stash).
I stamped the sentiment from the Wishes and Wonders stamp set in Versamark ink onto Silver Foil. I then added White Embossing Powder and set it with my heat tool.
Now for the star of the show, the reindeer from the North Pole Wonder dies - die cut from Silver Foil.
Doesn't it look fabulous against the shimmery background?
In my opinion, this card didn't need anything else adding to it - I think it's a good example of less is more. I hope you agree?
